Laganas is the most lively resort in Zakynthos, with entertainment going on right through the night at many of the more than 100 bars spread out along the shoreline. As a result, it can’t be considered traditionally Greek in any sense, but more unspoilt villages further inland are easily accessible, lying between the flat area of the bay in which Laganas is situated, and the mountains to the west. The long and wide beach in front of the cosmopolitan, popular tourist resort of Laganas is situated at a distance of 11 kilometers Southern to the town of Zakynthos and is considered as one of the bigger and nicer beaches of Greece and of the Mediterranean sea. This is not a word of the locals; all visitors will agree with them after the first visit. The beach is some 9 kilometers long (official measurement), sandy in all its length, with a fantastic crystal clear blue sea. Being so, it is not a surprise that it attracts big crowds, which make it very lively.
